71st RSSL AGM Successfully Concluded

The 71st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Radio Society of Sri Lanka (RSSL) was successfully held on Sunday, 30th March 2025, at the Otter Aquatic Club, Colombo 7. A total of 33 Corporate Members and 14 Associate Members participated in the meeting, which was chaired by the outgoing President, Tharanga Premathilake (4S6TMP).

Key Highlights of the AGM

  1. Election of Office Bearers
    The Pro-Tem Chairman, Kule (4S7KG), conducted the election in a fair and transparent manner, leading to the appointment of the following office bearers for the upcoming term:
    • President: Mr. Tharanga Premathilake – 4S6TMP
    • Vice President 1: Mr. Dhammika Fernando – 4S7DF
    • Vice President 2: Mr. J. T. Wijerathne – 4S7VJ
    • Secretary: Mr. G.V.A. Goonetilleke – 4S7VK
    • Treasurer: Mr. D.S.B. Sirimanne – 4S7DSB

Council Members:

    • Corporate Members:

      • Mr. Manoj Buddhika – 4S5MAN
      • Mr. Tithira Jayasekara – 4S6TKA
      • Mr. Udaya Jayantha – 4S5SC

2. Awards Ceremony

    • Winners and participants of the RSSL VHF Contest 2023 were presented with certificates in recognition of their efforts and achievements.

3. Membership Fee Revision

    • The Associate Membership fee was revised to Rs. 500, while the Corporate Membership fee was raised to Rs. 1000.

4. Launch of RSSL Members Portal

    • The new RSSL Members Portal (https://members.rssl.lk) was officially launched at the AGM. This portal will allow members to manage their subscriptions, receive incoming QSL card alerts, check payment history, receive renewal reminders, and update their personal details.

    • Tithira (4S6TKA) conducted a live demonstration of the portal, guiding members through the process of creating their profiles.

    • President Tharanga (4S6TMP) emphasized the importance of all members updating their details to ensure the society maintains accurate records for better service and decision-making.

5. Distribution of RSSL Membership ID Cards 

    • First batch of RSSL ID cards were distributed to members who attended the AGM received.

6. Closing Remarks

    • Secretary Victor (4S7VK) thanked all members, council members, and volunteers for their dedication and contributions to RSSL’s mission. He encouraged members to actively participate and contribute ideas to strengthen the organization.

The AGM concluded at 12:30 p.m., followed by a fellowship lunch where members enjoyed valuable eyeball QSO time. The photos will tell the rest of the story!
