In Loving Memory of Asoka de Silva(4S5BAK)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Asoka De Silva, a beloved member of the Radio Society of Sri Lanka (RSSL). Asoka, a long-time Corporate Life Member of the RSSL, left this world on the evening of 26th June 2023. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the entire amateur radio community.
Asoka was a dedicated and active participant in the RSSL’s VHF Net, where he provided detailed weather reports each evening at 9 PM. His commitment to this task was admired by all, and his contributions will be fondly remembered.
Aside from his involvement in amateur radio, Asoka had a distinguished professional career. He was an esteemed banker, having served in prominent positions such as Senior Director/Deputy Chairman at Union Bank, and CEO/GM at People’s Bank. His expertise and leadership left a lasting impact on the banking industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Asoka was a devoted Buddhist. His spiritual journey guided his actions, and his compassionate nature touched the lives of many.
As we mourn the loss of Asoka, let us remember him for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his passions. His legacy will continue to inspire us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
May Asoka find eternal peace and enlightenment in the realms of Nirvana.
